The same four combat types from the original are available: melee, ranged, nature magic, and combat magic. The more you use a skill, the better you'll become at it. If you want to be a nature mage, simply use nature spells. Want to split your skills between nature and melee, use them equally.

It's simple and very effective, but does have the downside of making you feel less involved in your character's leveling. But the sequel adds something new: a skill tree system that lets you further specialize your character. Every time you raise a character level, you'll gain a point you can put toward your skills. For example, melee fighters might choose to go the dual-wielding route, or they might specialize in weapon and shield. If you split your time between combat magic and ranged attacks, you can also split your skill points.

These new skills can give you powers, special super attacks that you use and then have to wait until they recharge. The new skill tree system adds more interactivity to the game without taking away from the fast pace and ease of entry. Action-RPGs rely on two key elements: lots of monsters and lots of loot.

The storylines tend to be simple, and actual role-playing elements tend to be limited to some minor interactions with NPCs and gaining levels. It's no Neverwinter Nights, but you can find lots of side quests alongside the primary storyline, and some of the quests require you to solve puzzles or riddles to complete them. Much as with the original, Dungeon Siege II can occasionally be a little too easy, however.

In the first 24 character levels, only one character of a party of four ever actually died, even when taking on creatures 10 levels higher than the party. You're limited to the first difficulty level mercenary until you've completed the game in its entirety.

As for the loot, you'll never lack for that from the get-go. One of the more beloved creatures of the original Dungeon Siege was the mule.

He couldn't fight, but his inventory room more than made up for his little failings. If you wanted, you could go through the game with one character and nothing else but mules. Dungeon Siege II includes many more pets, some only available after completing quests, and the mule now more than holds his own in combat.

One of the niftiest new features is the ability to feed your pet treasure so he can gain new abilities. It doesn't make much sense why is your mule eating magical chainmail?

Another new feature is enchantable treasure. Sometimes you'll come across armor, weapons, jewelry, and spellbooks with the 'enchantable' feature. You'll also come across reagents. A word to the wise adventurer: even if you conquer the great and powerful evil threatening the land and manage to destroy said land in the process, there's nothing to stop a savvy game developer from coming up with a concept for an expansion pack.

After putting the beatdown on Valdis last year and basically throwing everything into chaos, you're now being called back to face a new threat and deal with some of the fallout from your previous battle. Unfortunately, the story is a little thin, more suitable for a side quest than a complete expansion.

Sure there's a bit of new content here but it doesn't carry the same weight as the events from the core game. The story is typical fantasy fare: a dark wizard has arisen and the inhabitants of the world, particularly the dryads and dwarves, are beset with problems.

Nines times out of ten these problems are solved with the pointy end of the sword. The prospect of forcing the character to face the consequences of his world-warping victory might have been taken a little father but what we end up with here is a standard hack-and-slash style where problems are solved by stabbing or scorching them to death.

There's a new race here in Broken World, the Dwarves. Not only are they available as a playable race, but there's a whole dwarven community in the game that needs your help. You're free to create a new dwarven hero to use in the original Dungeon Siege II as well.

As with the other races, the racial benefits of being a dwarf don't really set them apart at higher levels but they do give lower level dwarves a unique sort of identity. While you can probably live without experiencing the thrills of life as a dwarf, you'll definitely want to check out the two new classes -- the Blood Assassin and the Fist of Stone.

The Blood Assassin combines ranged abilities and combat magic, making them an excellent choice for a party that really needs to dish out the long-range damage.

Remothered Broken Porcelain. The game employs classical role-playing elements in a high fantasy setting. Players control one of four characters, with one of the other three either controlled by the computer or another player using multiplayer features. When playing in single-player mode, players can readily switch out the supporting character at any time but unlike previous games in the series, only one companion character can be in the game at one time.

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante. Dungeon Siege III is an action role-playing game that takes place in a fantasy medieval world with geographic variety in open and closed environments dungeons. The game displays the game world from an isometric top-down perspective and uses a display engine that makes the entire experience seamless by constantly loading required game scenes in the background. This way, the game does not need any load screens often found in other games.

The game also avoids using many cut scenes by having characters talk to each other while traveling. The game features a control system created to accommodate the parallel release on consoles as well as on the PC.

As such, unlike previous games in the series, Dungeon Siege III no longer features an automatic targeting system and point-and-click mechanics. Instead, the player moves their character using the keyboard or a controller and the screen will move to stay centered on the character.

To fight, player have to point the character in the direction of the enemies they want to engage and press the attack button. Hack and slash your way through a never-ending barrage of monsters and mythical creatures with Dungeon Siege 2.

Using your sword and spells, you destroy monsters as you take a linear path through the wilderness and through dungeons. The gameplay is repetitive because all you do is kill monsters over and over again, but the game presents you with different monsters to mix things up a little.
