Windows update not working because service not running

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to: C:Windows folder. Step 3: Start Windows Update Service. Now go back to Windows Services control panel: 2. Right-click on Windows Update service and select ' Start '. Try to check for Updates again.

So in order to solve this problem, you can run System File Checker to check and repair the corrupted system files. Step 1: Type Command Prompt in the search box of Windows 10 and right-click it to choose the Run as administrator.
